ajaccio, genoese city

2013- Port Ajaccio NC
Presentation Want to enjoy the fresh air?
This is the oldest district of Ajaccio. Composed of small streets with colourful buildings, this part of the city will remind you of the charm of the fishing villages in Italy. Stroll around and don't hesitate to look up, history is present at every corner. From the Place Foch, walk up to the ramparts of the citadel. Starting from the fishing port, they extend to St François beach. Just next to it is the sailors' church and an original place, the Naporama: Museum on the Life of Napoleon Bonaparte in Playmobil. A few metres away, the cathedral with its colourful façade and baroque interior decoration. And then, of course, Napoleon. He was born here and his birthplace has become a museum. A place not to be missed. Amidst this wealth of history, the old town is home to many traders. You will find local shops, bars and restaurants. Craftsmen (coral, jewellery, knives...), shops with original creations (textiles, fashion accessories...) or food shops with quality products. Some addresses are not always easy to find, so don't hesitate to go down each alley, it's worth the diversions.
