Loop
ajaccio, genoese city
This is Ajaccio's oldest district.
Made up of narrow streets and colorful buildings, this part of town will remind you of the charm of the fishing villages of Italy. Take a stroll around and don't hesitate to look up: history is present around every corner.
From Place Foch, walk up to the ramparts of the citadel. Starting at the fishing port, they extend all the way to St. François beach. Right next door is the sailors' church and an original place, the Naporama: Museum on the Life of Napoleon Bonaparte in Playmobil.
A few meters away, the cathedral with its colorful facade and baroque interior. And then, of course, there's Napoleon. He was born here and his birthplace is now a museum. A place not to be missed.
Amidst this wealth of history, the old town is home to a wealth of shops. You'll find local shops, bars and restaurants. Craftsmen (coral, jewelry, knives...), boutiques with original creations (textiles, fashion accessories...) or food shops with quality products.
Some addresses are not always easy to find, so don't hesitate to take a stroll down each alleyway - it's well worth the detour.
