An amphitheatrical village 800 meters above sea level, whose history is marked by the historic figure of Sampiero Corso, born in Bastelica in 1498 and an emblematic figure of Corsica.
His destiny is linked to the Medici family, to whom he was close. He fought in the armies of Francis I, then Henry II, before launching an insurrection against the Genoese.
His son Alphonse d'Ornano became Marshal of France.
