Presentation What to do in the Ajaccio region?

The Gulf of Lava covers three communes: Alata, Appietto and Villanova.
The part of the site classified as "Natura 2000" occupies 150 hectares between the rocky hill of Punta Pelusella to the north and the low sandy terrace to the south, close to the Lava stream.
This project, managed by the Communauté d'agglomération du pays ajaccien, promotes the gradual restoration of the environment and the protection of sensitive species in the Gulf of Lava. However, the aim is not to prevent tourist and commercial activities during the summer season. For this reason, pontoons and footbridges have been installed, making the site accessible throughout the year. In addition, agricultural equipment and ganivelles help to reconstitute the dune area.
The beach, which is almost 1 km long, is very popular and has seen the development of several beach establishments.
Maintained each year by the Communauté d'Agglomération du Pays Ajaccien (Ajaccian Country Agglomeration Community), the beach is fitted out, equipped, signposted and cleaned.
